Job Responsibilities

The Parks Maintenance unit of the Municipal Technology department is seeking seasonal reinforcement starting in spring 2026. With us, you will help maintain Malmö's outdoor environment: parks, streets, squares, beaches, flower programs, and around public buildings. We are looking for individuals who want to work with green space maintenance, waste management, or as machine operators within the City of Malmö.

As a maintenance worker, your tasks will include weeding in plantings and on gravel and asphalt surfaces, lawn care, waste management, pruning of bushes and trees, as well as some planting of trees, bushes, and perennials, among others.

As a waste management worker, you will be responsible for emptying trash bins, picking up litter, sweeping in connection with environmental parking, and handling customer center inquiries on an iPad.

As a machine operator, your work will include weeding with brushes, hot water/gas burning, watering, and operating a compactor truck.

You will be part of a smaller work team, which requires good teamwork skills and attentiveness. Some assignments may involve more independent work. Shift work may occur.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a high school education. Training in green space maintenance is an advantage.

We expect you to have work experience from the gardening industry, such as park and green space maintenance and/or other relevant experience. If you have experience operating machinery, such as tractors or tool carriers, it is also an advantage. Specific work experience in cleaning and waste management is also beneficial. For us, a high service mindset is very important. Therefore, we have high expectations for your good service sense and flexibility in meeting others, as well as a sense of responsibility and pride in your professional performance.

Some assignments may involve more independent work, which requires you to have the ability to plan how the assignment should be carried out and to take your own initiatives based on the assignment description.

Requirements for the position include a B driver's license and basic knowledge of the Swedish language. You must understand oral and written instructions. You have basic technical skills regarding the use of iPads.
